Dominique Hanssens is Co-founder of MarketShare. He is the Bud Knapp Professor of Marketing at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he has been on the faculty since 1977. He has served as the school's faculty chair, associate dean, and marketing area chair. His research focuses on strategic marketing problems, in particular marketing productivity, to which he applies his expertise in data-analytic methods such as econometrics and time-series analysis. He advises MarketShare on the latest science and application in market response modeling and provides a liaison with the leading academic community worldwide.

Professor Hanssens served as Executive Director of the distinguished Cambridge-based Marketing Science Institute. This nonprofit marketing science group combines the best of marketing academia and Fortune 500 marketing executives to propose solutions to difficult marketing challenges, such as brand equity assessment, quantifying word of mouth, social network effects and new media technology.

Professor Hanssens has served as an area editor for Marketing Science and an associate editor for Management Science. His articles have appeared in the leading academic and professional journals in marketing, econometrics and statistics. The 2nd edition of his book Market Response Models was published in 2001 and translated in Chinese. In 2003 he was awarded the UCLA Anderson School’s Neidorf ‘decade’ teaching award, in 2007 he was the recipient of the Churchill Lifetime Achievement Award of the American Marketing Association, and in 2010 he was elected a Fellow of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science.

He studied econometrics at the University of Antwerp (B.S., 1974) in his native Belgium. He then pursued graduate study in marketing at Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management, where he obtained an M.S. in 1976 and a Ph.D. in 1977.
