Ashwin Rangan is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation, the global leader in the science of heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring. Driven by a passion to help patients, the company partners with clinicians to develop innovative technologies in the areas of structural heart disease and critical care monitoring that enable them to save and enhance lives.

Before joining Edwards in 2010, Ashwin was the chief products officer for MarketShare and was a strategy consultant with Bank of America. Prior to that, Ashwin served as general manager and CIO of Wal-Mart global.com. He was also senior vice president and CIO of Conexant Systems and was a member of the founding team that spun-out the company from Rockwell International. Before Rockwell, Ashwin served in various senior information technology (IT) management positions at AST Computer (now part of Samsung Electronics).

Ashwin serves on the board of advisors for several start-up companies, including MarketShare, VMware, RawSugar, HelpTone and myCVscore. He is a published author and recently released a book entitled Tomorrow’s CIO: Strategic Conversations that align IT with the Board Room.

Ashwin has a master’s degree in industrial engineering and management with an emphasis on IT and operations management from NITIE, Bombay, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Bangalore University, India. He is accredited with both CPIM and CIRM by the American Production and Inventory Control Society. He is also accredited with a CSP by the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a Certified Corporate Director from the Directors Institute at both the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. Ashwin is also a long-standing member of MENSA International.
